This rare coin was issued during the final days of the reign of Mohammad Ali Shah, the second-to-last monarch of the Qajar Dynasty. It was minted only once in AH 1327 (CE 1909). This rare 2000 dinar coin was originally issued in AH 1310 (approx. CE 1892) during the reign of Nasser Al-Din Shah, Persia's third-longest reigning monarch (1848-96). The front writing includes the Shah's name, while the back shows the date struck and the national lion and sun emblem.
